Main St. Magazine

The first initial start was the magazine. After speaking to the printer about size requirements, I commence with putting together a template, logo and media kit for the owner of the magazine. Then we created a website to get users to view current and past issues of the magazine in low res pdf format. I also converted the monthly covers into the front page web site. Some photos came from an online source but many came from local photographers like (Got Imaging?).
Once the owner of the business connected with a high school friend who is an editor for many other hi-tech magazines, she had access to many writers to write for them. Once I would get the article in word format, I would layout the pages including incoming pdf ads from ad agencies. I would place these low res pdf's online and the editor and owner would look over them to make any further cuts and changes. Once the changes were made the hi-res pdf's were put into a diffenent folder to be later sent to our printer. The magazine took about 1 week's worth of work. The 3 other weeks were getting the contacts and people to generate ads and content for the upcoming issue.
The concept of the magazine and web site was catered to 30 to 40 year olds who are already established with a family and have small businesses. It was a lifestyle magazine focusing more on the Bay Area Peninsula. Currently the magazine is no more but the website is still running. The magazine lasted for 7 months. Usually when I am involved in a magazine it was always from a maintainence point of view, but in this case, I was involved from start to finish and had my hands in every project/stage in dealing with the magazine layout, checking outside pdf, creating a media kit and developing and maintaining a website.
